  • Why "Board & Train" when you can have your personal trainer come to your home? A key issue with boarding your dog to train is ensuring new or changed behaviors transfer from the training facility to your home and from the trainer to you. Dogs are very specific thinkers and steps must be taken to ensure these transfers take place and that you receive the same level of deference as the trainer. Why not skip this entirely and be a part of the process so that your dog develops the relationship s/he needs with you in the first place?

  • Depending on the individual training plan, services may include: training walks, recreations of triggering stimuli, marker training, etc.

  • Access to your trainer day and night by text/email/phone (except 8 to 10 pm)

  • Split-up time (180 minutes/week) to work with your schedule—ex. Mon Midday 60min, Tue & Wed AM 30min/PM 30min, Thu PM 45min, etc.

  • Daily Progress Reports

    1st Week Rate: $80 Training Session + $300/week 1 = $380         Additional Week(s) Rate: $250/week          Additional Training Sessions $50/Session

PREMIERYour trainer works with your dog for 10 hours/week to implement your personal training plan.
Ideal for busy professionals with long workdays/evenings away from home, growing families, puppies, estate kennels, multi-dog households, puppies, and animals with behavioral issues needing immediate professional intervention.

  • Why "Board & Train" when you can have the entire process take place at your home, guided by your own personal trainer? Keep your precious pup in his home environment and avoid the issue of transferring behaviors learned somewhere else to home. Your trainer will show you exactly what to do to manage undesirable behaviors and teach new desirable alternatives while guiding you to step into your role as leader. Your dog needs to develop his/her relationship with you in parallel with the relationship with the trainer. Then when the trainer steps away, your dog does not regress and your investment is secure.

  • Depending on the individual training plan, work may include: training walks, recreations of triggering stimuli, marker training, etc.

  • Detailed Daily Progress Reports with photos and video

  • (Option) AKC Canine Good Citizen training and handling for certification (cost = entrance fee only)

    1st Week Rate: $80 Training Session + $600/week 1 = $680          Additional Week(s) Rate: $475/week          Additional Training Sessions $25/Session

Q: Now what?! Where do I find a trainer I can trust?

A: Here are some resources & advice on finding the trainer that's right for you and your dog:

Association of Professional Dog Trainers (ADPT) Trainer Search

ADPT suggestions on "How To Choose A Dog Trainer"

Keep in mind that in Maryland (and the rest of the U.S.) ANYONE can hang out a shingle as a dog trainer. There is no particular training required, and no licensing or vetting process. Therefore regardless of the urgency of your situation, take time to carefully select and interview anyone you would have handle your dog.

Trust your gut.
If something doesn't feel right to you, don't let it happen. You are in charge of your and your dog's experience. Are instant results or miraculous change promised in a certain number of sessions? Beware trainers ready to make promises and predict the future with absolute certainty. Know what you want. Any trainer should be happy to explain their chosen methods and equipment in detail. Beware of using force or adding discomfort to cases of aggression &/or fearfulness as well as those who would have you never disagree with your dog's behavior in any way.

Questions? Feel free to give me a call or text and I'll be happy to discuss your case with you and give a 2nd opinion on any training plan.
